Take deposits with Stripe

Deposits are paid straight into your own Stripe account. Card details are entered on Stripe’s secure form and never touch your website.

Before you start

You need a Stripe account. If you do not have one, create one at stripe.com. Stripe charges its usual card fees; WearBeauty takes nothing.

Add your keys

  1. In Stripe, open Developers, API keys.
  2. In WordPress, go to WearBeauty, Settings, Payments.
  3. Copy the publishable key (pk_…) and secret key (sk_…) into the boxes. Use the test keys first if you want to try it without real money.
  4. Set Mode to Test or Live and save.

Set up the webhook

The webhook tells WearBeauty when a deposit has been paid.

  1. In Stripe, open Developers, Webhooks and add an endpoint.
  2. Paste the address shown on the Payments settings page. It ends in /wp-json/wdb/v1/webhooks/stripe.
  3. Choose the events payment_intent.succeeded and payment_intent.canceled. If you sell memberships, also choose checkout.session.completed, invoice.paid, invoice.payment_failed, customer.subscription.updated and customer.subscription.deleted.
  4. Copy the signing secret (whsec_…) into the Webhook signing secret box and save.

Tip: Test mode and live mode have different keys and different webhooks. Set up both if you test first.

Choose which services need a deposit

  1. Go to WearBeauty, Services and open a service.
  2. Under Price and deposit, choose no deposit, a fixed amount, a percentage or the full price.
  3. Save. Clients now pay the deposit when they book that service online.

Deposits are taken on online bookings. If Stripe is not set up, online bookings still work without a deposit.
